Iftar recipe: Banana and oatmeal smoothie

Serves 4

Cooking time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

½ cup quick cooking oats

3 cups milk, divided

3 tbsp maple syrup or honey

½ tsp salt

2 ripe bananas, peeled and cut into rounds

toasted almonds or pecans (or both)

Method

In a small saucepan, cook the oats, according to package directions, until tender with 2 cups of the milk, maple syrup and salt. Set aside to cool.

Put the cooled oats into a blender with the remaining cup of milk, bananas and nuts.

Process until smooth, pour into glasses and top with more nuts or some fruit.

Serve immediately.
