Is bigger really better? Granted when it comes to an iftar spread, bigger certainly looks more impressive but does it take the title where it really counts — the taste buds? I'm not so sure.

Dubai Marina's Yacht Club's 25/55 Cafe Bistro does not boast tier-topped tables as far as the eye can see. Instead, it does what it does best every other day of the week: cook great, flavour-filled dishes which aren't over-thought, overdone or overpriced.

Rather than 50 options which don't quite make the mark (probably because they have been mass-produced) the dishes are more personal. From home-made hummous and mixed grills to more unusual Ramadan options including steamed spinach chicken and cumin rice, you feel dishes were prepared freshly for you.

Salads, breads and soup start things off and the desserts, while not endless, are unique. The Umm Ali is actually to die for.

The interior is minimalist without being overly fussy. It's a place to go if you don't fancy battling the crowds but would rather enjoy good food, in a relaxed environment with family or friends.
