Everything at The Cove Rotana in Ras Al Khaimah screams serenity.

From the gentle waves lapping the shore to the winding lanes leading to the many private villas which almost float on man-made lakes.

The Cove's iftar experience is no different. It's Arabic serenity with a traditional feel. Having only been with the team at Cinnamon — the main buffet restaurant — for two months, Syrian chef Chadi Salloum brings fresh flavours to an already award-winning establishment.

The aroma is the first thing which hits you. Shawarma, kofta, mixed grill, traditional lamb ouzi, baba ganoush, homemade hummus and tabouli — all the favourites are included. But it's the mix of Arabic and international which is truly impressive. Curry, stroganoff, grilled fish, rice, vegetable and potatoes, the buffet doesn't leave anyone out.

The colours are eye-catching, the aromas mouth-watering. Dates and nuts are offered on arrival by a friendly and attentive team who happily guide you to your sea-view table. After dinner the Breeze Terrace showcases a beautiful majlis seating with shisha open until 1.45am. Delicious suhour is also served from 9pm to 4am a la carte.
