Served on the 34th floor, the iftar buffet is not very extensive, but it's enough to stimulate any appetite
The Fairmont Dubai shares many characteristics — friendly staffers, relaxing atmosphere and good dishes — with several other hotels, but it has its own unique features.
Served on the 34th floor, the iftar buffet is not very extensive, but it's enough to stimulate any appetite. I spotted dishes I never imagined I would see, like green lentil soup — a soup cooked with lentil and spinach.
I also had fatah al madadem, a Middle Eastern dish, which, for those who can prepare it, is a matter of pride because it's not easy to master. Prepared by covering roasted pieces of bread with rice soaked with the juices of well-cooked lamb legs in various spices, it is decorated with yogurt and served with nuts.
I also tried my first cheesecake with dates, which I highly recommend.
Among the other delectable dishes is the spicy potato salad from the cold mezze section, served with humus, fattoush and green salad.
The hot-plate section, where the fatah is placed, is amazing. The hot buraks stuffed with meat and vegetables is a must-try while the shawarma sandwiches prepared on the spot were light and delicious and the chicken wings were juicy. A wide selection of tender grilled meat and chicken is also available. I also highly recommend the fish cooked with tomato sauce and capsicum and onion.
Unexpectedly, kunafa was the first dish in the dessert section. It was wonderful.
Though I am not a smoker, my table happened to be in the area where shisha is offered, but it wasn't really much of a bother. Small candles placed on silver dishes give the hallway a nice touch, ensuring that you leave with a smile.
