Dubai’s love affair with Turkish food is helping elevate the cuisine to nosebleed status just in time for the party season. Enigma, the mutable concept restaurant at Palazzo Versace Dubai, re-opens its doors from October 1 with a menu of dishes from the Middle Eastern country.

Billed the Inside Story, the open-ended promotion will unravel the enigma of Turkish gastronomy, according to a handout. It will be helmed by the restaurant’s Head Chef Yunus, who promises to bring the cuisine to life in a new and creative way. Previous editions of the restaurant have been helmed by Michelin-starred chefs Quique Dacosta and Björn Frantzén.

Yunus has been at Enigma since its January launch, and led the execution of both chefs’ concepts for Dubai. “It has been an honour working alongside such prestigious world-class chefs such as Quique Dacosta and Björn Frantzén,” he says, “but I am thrilled to now have the opportunity to share the cuisine of my home with diners.”

The move puts him in the same league as DaCosta and Frantzén.

Hailing from Marmaris, a port town on the Mediterranean coast, chef Yunus started life as a yacht captain in his native country of Turkey. He began his culinary career 15 years ago when a siren call of the culinary arts lured him off his ship and into the kitchen. He’s been at the side of Chef Fabrice, Executive Chef at Palazzo Versace Dubai, ever since they first began working together in the Mandarin Oriental Bodrum.

Jimmy Lopez, Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food & Beverage, said: “Enigma is an evolving concept, what will always remain is our commitment and focus on executing different cuisines from around the world. We want to bring the best tasting food to our diners and keep them guessing, what cuisine is coming next?”

Enigma is open six nights a week from 7pm to 11pm, Monday to Saturday. For the first time an à la carte menu will be available in addition to a tasting menu.
