Fabulous new brunches to try

The brunch deluge continues. The latest to launch creative ways to demolish your Friday are Japanese contemporary Okku, Creekside Italian Vivaldi by Alfredo Russo and family French Emirates Golf Club. Michelin-starred Italian chef Alfredo Russo’s restaurant at the revamped Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers has views of Dubai Creek as you start with a welcome drink and cold canapes upon arrival. Starters and pasta are share and mains are a la carte. Fridays, noon-4pm, from Dh189. Call 04-2071717.

Okku’s Disco Sushi brunch launches on October 24, with a special menu, bottle service and 1980s and ’90s music. It kicks off with a cocktail party from 12.30, before moving onto a 12-course menu of signature Okku dishes. The music gets turned up at 3pm, with the stated intention of having diners dancing on the tables. The dress code is Miami Vice. Dh599 per person for the full brunch package; minimum group booking of four and reservations essential.

Over at Emirates Golf Club, gourmet French spot Le Classique is going family-style for brunch, with sharing dishes, a rotisserie and what’s described as an “extensive” cheese counter. It’s very traditional — pot au feu with pan fried foie gras, escargots de bourgogne, aligot with tomme fraiche and tableside crepe Suzette. There’s also live jazz and views from the terrace over the golf course and stunning views of Dubai’s iconic skyline. Children are welcome; a face painter and video games are on hand to entertain. From Dh180, 12.30-4pm; call 04-4179999.
