In a country where every business sector has a city all to itself, from health to media to logistics, could food ever be far behind?

Combining the UAE’s love for eating out and our love of the open road with a retro 50s Americana vibe is a destination venue set to open its doors off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway this month.

Last Exit by Meraas is being described as a first-of-its-kind gourmet food truck park. With convenient access from Sheikh Zayed Road that also lends it greater visibility, the quirky destination located within Jebel Ali features gourmet food outlets repurposed to offer signature street food choices in a unique truck park concept.

The destination will include dine-in and drive-through formats and span a gastronomic variety that includes Latin American, International, Middle Eastern, American and Italian cuisines as well as favourite selections from popular cafés.

In total, the development will features more than 10 food trucks as well as a number of retail and convenience stores, a kids play area, parking spaces, well-appointed restrooms, prayer rooms, charge up boxes and ATMs. Think of it as Global Village for food but with slightly more upscale eating.

Among the 12 brands that are opening in launch week are Baja Fresh, Clinton St. Bakery, Operation Falafel, Starbucks, Poco Loco, Il Café di Roma and The Brass – many of them familiar concepts from around the UAE.

Outlandish and imaginative in design, the outdoor concept has been meticulously created leveraging rehashed automotive parts throughout its structure as well as in common areas offering motorists and commuters between Abu Dhabi and Dubai an array of interesting dining choices.

Last Exit is Meraas’s fourth concept in the region after City Walk, The Beach and Boxpark. The 1,500sqm food theme park is located on Exit 11 on Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai.
