134 business plans presented this year

Three teams beat thirteen other finalists in the recent Zayed University e-Biz Challenge competition.

Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education and President of Zayed University presented the awards.

The team from UAE’s Emirates College for Management and Information Technology won first place for a project about publishing any print medium online.

Members of the team are Sandil Srinivasan, Sumith Alvet Miranda, Wassim Ahmad and their advisor Abdul Rahman.

Over 130 business plans from 25 universities in five Gulf countries were entered into the competition .

A vending machine for music took the award for second place.

The team from the American University of Sharjah named their winning project the MP3 Kiosk.

Team members include Hamna Anwar, Furqan Ahmad and Mariam Abdul Rahman, with advisor Ali Khawaja.

In third place was the team from the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman for their project titled E-Meter.

The team comprised Ali Bkhit Hassan Kashoub, Mohammad Salim Al Massahani, Humoud Hamed Al Maamari and their advisor Rafi Ashrafi.

Dr Abdullah Abu Namah, Director, ITI, the organiser of the event, believes contestants have learnt three things through the competition - to compromise, negotiate and support one another.
