Lorna returns to GMA

Award-winning actress returns to GMA to do a primetime TV series. Tolentino signed up with TV5 for a one-year contract in 2010 but has not been seen in enough TV projects, or was not too happy with the kind of projects given to her. Wags also say she was not very pleased with the “second-class” stature she got at the station, which put more importance to other A-list celebs like Sharon Cuneta, Aga Muhlach and Nora Aunor. On her return to GMA, Tolentinto was supposed to do Haram with Dingdong Dantes and Kylie Padilla, but was temporarily shelved owing to tensions in the Islamic community in the Philippines because of the controversial video, Innocence of Muslims.

Long-awaited series

Derek Ramsay is excited much these days after TV5 executives finally announced he will be doing a TV series. Ramsay left ABS CBN early this year to join his new home studio, but has not been seen much on the boob tube. Good thing he was kept busy with the filming of A Secret Affair, which reunites him with No Other Woman co-lead, Anne Curtis. Ramsay said they just finished the story conference and could start production in a week’s time. By November, the actor should be back regularly on TV where his fans miss him the most. In Kidlat, the title of his new soap, he will be paired with young stars Ritz Azul and Nadine Samonte.

Dreaming of ‘Darna’

Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin is being rumoured as the most likely to play the role of ‘Darna’ — the Filipino superheroine based on the comics character popularised by Mars Ravelo. Locsin shot to fame when she donned Darna’s sexy two-piece costume in GMA 7, but ABS CBN has bought the rights to some of Ravelo’s works, including Darna, and is raring to do a remake. But our sources say network executives are still not sure whether to do a TV series or make a movie through their film arm, Star Cinema. Either way, Locsin is said to be among the top choices, including Cristine Reyes and Karylle.

Point of Entry

Speaking of Karylle, the singer-actress is now in Singapore filming some scenes as a guest star on the state-island’s top rating weekly action drama series, Point of Entry. Karylle will be shooting for nine days in Singapore and four days in Manila, and will appear in the current, third season of the TV programme. This will be Karylle’s second project in Singapore, after the Pan Asian musical series The Kitchen Musical.

My playlist

Agot Isidro, singer/actress

Song on repeat mode: Somebody that I Used to Know by Gotye featuring Kimbra.

Catchy tune, and simple but strikingly true lyrics.

One to make me cry: We are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift.

She’s got a way with words that really rings true to me

This one makes me move: Gangnam Style by Psy.

The whole world is probably dancing to this.

At karaoke I would sing: Payphone by Maroon 5.

But the acoustic version.

Track I’d skip right now: Lights by Ellie Goulding.

Can’t think of any reason, but I just keep skipping it on my player.
