Residents of various Aldar communities in Abu Dhabi took part in the Khidmah Community Games at the Sun and Sky Towers on Reem Island.

More than 460 residents from eight residential communities managed by Khidmah competed in various events, including a 50m swimming challenge, tennis tournaments, hoopla skill test, 2km treadmill run, padded sumo wrestling, football and basketball.

Feedback

According to Khidmah the main aim of the event was to provide a sense of community and promote a healthy lifestyle in the residential projects it manages on behalf of Aldar. Having received a positive response from the participants, the organiser said it plans to make the event an annual affair.

“I believe that the greatest assets Khidmah possesses are its people and the residents,” says Abdulla Al Qamzi, Managing Director of Khidmah. “That’s why it is of great importance to us that we promote a quality lifestyle and not just simply deliver a service. Many companies may not see the value of investing in activities that generate a sense of unity within the properties they manage.

“However, Khidmah sees great value in this. We don’t just manage properties, we develop communities and create lifestyles.”

Performances

The day-long event also featured a number of live performances by various artists, including a DJ, professional break dancers and fire-eaters. An arts and crafts market was also organised, which featured an array of food stalls. Khidmah also showcased Emirati culture and cuisine in special booths, featuring various activities such as henna painting and falconry.

A spectacular fireworks display was held during the awarding ceremony.
