Two pupils from the Indian School in Muscat stole the show in ISC Gujarati Wing's touching two-act drama Ame Baraf Naa Pankhi, which was presented at the KSD Hall.

The packed house gave the cast of the show, which translates as We the Snow Birds, a standing ovation at the end of 130-minute play.

Tear-jerker

Seventh-grade student Aashka Vaidya's performance in the lead role of Nandu had many in the audience wiping tears from their eyes. The play is a drama translated from Vasant| Kanetkar's original Marathi script.

Malayalam-speaking eighth grade student Sanjana Mohandoss's emotional rendition of the title song in Gujarati evoked a round of applause.

Tragic

Gharekhan lived up to her reputation as a fine actor with her histrionics in the role of a mother trying to keep the family happy while bearing the brunt of the impending tragedy all alone.

Dilesh showcased his versatility with ease, portraying the complex character of a father who ignores his serious heart condition and keeps the entire family happy with his humour.

Dr Rikin Shah the surgeon who has to break the news to the family that Nandu, darling daughter of the house, is suffering from cancer, was also good.

Flawless debuts

Neel Maniar and Yogesh Rathod brushed aside debut nervousness to offer flawless performances while Shilpa Vaidya looked comfortable in a small but significant role.
