The Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix takes place from Friday, October 30, to Sunday, November 1. Practice laps take place on October 30, qualifiers on October 31 and the race on Sunday, all at Yas Marina Circuit on the outskirts of the capital city.
Blistering Line-Ups
With tickets sold out for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2009, chances are there will be a few disappointed Beyoncé and No Doubt fans moping about the UAE.
If a preview is what you'd like, then make sure you tune in to the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend as two of the four acts signed for the Abu Dhabi event are taking to the stage this weekend for the first F1 Rocks music event.
Massive names including U2, Take That and many more were propelled into the rumour mill after Universal Music announced the launch of the inaugural F1 Rocks.
The event fuses the F1 sporting series and the most iconic music stars with a series of spectacular concerts set in glamorous Formula 1 race locations around the world.
The first event takes place alongside the Singapore Grand Prix from September 25 to 27 featuring Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, as well as No Doubt.
The California-based band will be playing their first live show outside the US in over seven years, now back on the road following a four-year break.
Excited about playing at the F1 in Singapore, bassist Tony Kanal said: "This has already been an incredible year of touring for our band and we're excited to keep it going by reconnecting with our amazing fans. So when the opportunity to be a part of the F1 event came up, we knew it was time for us to return."
Hot Air
As the anticipation builds for the country's most talked about event, so too has the speculation about which bands would complement the big day.
But until now rumours, speculation and a fair amount of hot air is all it was.
The usual suspects were alive with dialogue - tweets on Twitter, wall posts on Facebook and whatever it is you do on Myspace.
When names such as U2 and Madonna were batted about, the excitement started to build, although seemingly a little too much.
An industry source told tabloid! acts like U2 were considered "too big" and were shelved for fear of them overshadowing the racing. Touchy.
Thursday: Beyoncé
Taking to the stage even before the practice racing begins the next day, it's estimated Beyoncé will play a relatively intimate concert to an audience of around 3,000 people.
Friday: Nelly Furtado
It's a perfectly timed concert for Nelly Furtado, who's enjoying the success of her fourth album, Mi Plan. The little songstress with the big voice will take to the stage on Friday night to entertain fans after a long day of practice laps and on-track hospitality.
Saturday: No Doubt
Recently reunited, No Doubt's performance will draw their summer tour to a close after a few last shows in California. It's the first chance for the UAE to see Gwen Stefani's legendary live antics.
Sunday: Aerosmith
The bad boys from Boston will keep the revs high after an electrifying day of F1 racing action. As the drivers prepare for private after-parties the rock and blues legends will take to the stage in the UAE capital for the closing party after the big race.
