Dubai Knowledge Village Courtyard swept the podium in the first Red Bull Gravity Challenge when three of its participating teams defied Newton's law of Gravity and stepped up on the podium.

Teams Newton's Challenge and Gizmo scored the highest points (32), but with the creativity in designing their egg-landing machine, Newton's Challenge clinched the first place and won the first round of the Red Bull Gravity Challenge in the UAE.

Second place went to the girls team Gizmo Team while Egg Bull came in third place after scoring 26 points.

“We are so happy to win the Red Bull Gravity Challenge; we designed different sketches and we were hesitant which one to use but it seems we chose the right one'', said Sharmel Khan, the leader of team Newton's Challenge.

The Red Bull Gravity Challenge took place at the Dubai Academic City Courtyard and attracted 20 teams. Not all the teams managed to get their eggs landing safe and sound but some defied nature and dropped it unscathed from a dizzy height of 15 meters.

Each team had one minute for a short show before dropping the device from the crane. The creativity and the idea behind the egg-landing machine were also evaluated by an independent jury. The jury consisted of the Red Bull athlete and UAE motorcross Champion, Mohammed Al Bloushy, Radio One presenter, Sheena Kay and Sereem Al Zubaidi, head of engineering at Hariott watt University.
The Jury awarded points to each device based on a 1-12 points scale.

Six points were granted to the team who managed to drop the egg and touch the ground without being broken. Only three points were given to the eggs that were dropped without touching the ground. Broken eggs did not get any points.

Participating in this event required drawing a sketch of the egg landing machine, with weight of no more than 5kgs and size no more than 1 square meter.
