Glass and aluminium strips create snazzy candle holders
Here's an interesting way to make candle holders using coloured glass pieces.
STEP 1
Put glass pieces of the same colour in a plastic bag and break them into small pieces with a hammer or any other tool. Please exercise caution while performing this step.
STEP 2
Put some broken glass pieces into a glass bowl. Then, place a small bowl into the larger bowl. The rim of both bowls should be level with each other.
STEP 3
Take a handful and place them in the gap between the two bowls, preferably with a plastic spoon.
STEP 4
Fill in the empty areas with the glass pieces until there is no space left, shaking it to adjust. Use generous amounts of all-purpose glue on the area.
STEP 5
Now, make a stand for the candle holder. You will need an aluminium strip that is 1.5cm wide, 1.5mm thick and 60cmlong. Cut the strip in two pieces of 30 centimetres each, using pliers.
STEP 6
Bend both ends of the strip and shape it into a spiral as shown in the picture. Using pliers, shape both ends of the other aluminium strip as well.
STEP 7
Join both the strips of aluminium at the centre and tie them with fishing twine. Knot the twine on the underside of the strips and use a drop of superglue before cutting off excess.
STEP 8
Check whether the stand balances well. Colour the stand using black spray paint. Apply a light coat at first. When it is dry, apply one more coat of spray paint, for better results.
STEP 9
Place a candle in your candle holder and put it in a cosy corner of your living room. You can also make a wall decoration, as shown with the candle holder.
I mixed broken glass with a spoon of white glue in a plastic bowl and placed it in a bowl cover. When the mixture is still wet, you can stick a few coins or anything else you would like to display on the wall.
