Get ready for what could possibly be the last mega concert before Ramadan.

The Grammy-winning singer Pink arrived in the UAE on Monday night and told reporters she was excited to be playing in Dubai for the first time.

On Wednesday the singer will regale music buffs in Dubai with a live wire performance.

Elissa Murtaza, managing director Mirage Promotions, organisers of the concert said, "This is going to be an exciting event with plenty of promotions and great arrangements for food and beverages."

For once, there will be no food coupons. Instead, concert-goers will have to purchase smart chip-enabled cards from food and beverages counters at the venue.

The chip card system, the first of its kind in the UAE, is aimed at reducing the rush at the cash counters.

With just a few days left for the show, Pink fans are an ecstatic lot.

"It really is a dream come true," said Naree, lead singer of a local band that won a talent competition organised by Herbal Ess-ences to get a chance to perform alongside Pink.

For those not in the know, Pink's Missundaztood was her biggest-selling album to date. She also won the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance Grammy for her song Trouble in 2004.

Besides being a powerhouse performer, Pink has also dabbled in acting. After impressing studio bosses with her cameo performance in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Pink was signed for the horror film Catacombs. She has also appeared in the films Ski to the Max and Rollerball.

With so much to look forward to in terms of entertainment, this is one event which music lovers are unlikely to forget in a hurry.
