Make a classic decor statement with easy-to-make mosaic designs
Mosaic is an art form several thousand years old. In Roman times, elaborate, gaudy mosaics were a sign of wealth, sure to impress friends and business contacts.
These days, though, everyone can create mosaic designs. Here, Andrea Bailey shows you how to make mosaic flowers.
Things required
STEP 1
Draw the design on the wooden base.
STEP 2
Use the tile cutter to cut the tiles. Alternatively, you can use pre–cut tiles, which are available either at art stores or with Andrea herself.
STEP 3
Apply the white glue and stick the tiles in the design.
STEP 4
Allow them to dry for 24 hours. Check for any loose pieces and stick them.
STEP 5
Mix grout and water in the ratio of 2:1, so you get a smooth paste. You can use a coloured grout to match the picture you have. For this, mix the required water paint with grout to achieve the grout shade you desire.
STEP 6
Pour the grout mixture over the piece and spread it. Rubbing into the gaps. Or, apply the grout with a brush. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove excess grout. Allow it to dry for at least 24 hours.
STEP 7
Your mosaic flower is ready.
