Details of the second Abu Dhabi Classical Music Festival now running in the UAE capital
In a celebration of classical music, the Spanish Quartet takes the stage tomorrow at the National Theatre for the Abu Dhabi Classical Music Festival.
Gerardo Ubaghs, Laia Puig, Angel Jabea Murado and Anna Puig I Torne from the Spanish Quartet Armonia will perform their unique style of chamber music.
On Monday, the show returns to the Cultural Foundation where the pianist Eleonora Skutova will accompany the world-class Slovakian cellist Eugen Prochac in concert.
Classical music by Brahms, Leiberman, Aubert and Chopin will be performed by world-renowned American pianist David Korevaar at the Cultural Foundation on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, oud master Naseer Shamma from Iraq, along with 24 oud musicians, will perform at the National Theatre.
The ADMAF has an excellent working relationship with the local universities, says Taghrid Hassan of the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation.
The visiting musicians will also be lecturing to the students the day after they perform.
The Music Festival will run until April 28, and is dedicated to Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The final day of the festival is Childrens Day where nearly 100 talented children from the German, Indian, American and British schools of Abu Dhabi will perform Dan Anthonys original work Jason and the Argonauts: The Original Superheroes.
A special part of the plot is composed and performed by a select group of young musicians from each school and these individual pieces are then connected together through narration and a professional musician to tell the story.
