Love, laughs and chicken curry

Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurrana (roughly ‘Love etc and a chicken dish’)... the title gets you curious about the film, alright! Especially since it’s produced by Anurag Kashyap and stars Kunal Kapoor. Here the actor talks about the comedy flick releasing this Thursday!

Why doesn’t a talented actor like you take up films left, right and centre?

Honestly, I wouldn’t like to be picky. I would like to take up as many roles as I can. But the thing is, it is also important to get the right script and in the last couple of years I haven’t been able to get the script I’ve been looking for. I have got to work with writers and directors and develop scripts that I really like.

We heard Anurag Kashyap gave you love tips for intimate scenes with Huma Qureshi…

(Laughs) I think Anurag needs love tips himself! How is he going to give us love tips? Sorry, but there were no love tips coming from anyone. The only thing we did before starting work was a workshop for Huma and me.

Huma has become quite a rage since Gangs of Wasseypur?

She has the rare combination of being someone who can be glamorous and be a good actress at the same time. The only reason I would be afraid to do a film with her is if there is a scooter involved! She rides the scooter sleeping down, she skids and does crazy things and I was at the receiving end as I was sitting behind!!!

Is Anurag easy to work with? Was he always on set watching over director Sameer Sharma?

He is an amazing producer. He is an absent producer which is damn good and I mean this in the best way because a film is the director’s vision brought on screen. Anurag left it completely in the hands of the director to work on this film.

Was there a lot of food on set considering you play a Punjabi boy whose family runs a dhaaba business?

Well it was crazy because there was rich Punjabi food. It got a bit tiresome… You have the same dish for one sequence and you have to eat it over and over again for every take! For one scene, we had 40 jalebis!
