From us to you: There is always a reason to be optimistic
The year has come to an end…not a very nice one. With all the ravaging humanitarian crises happening in Gaza Strip and the financial crisis affecting almost everyone in the world; we can say it was a very eventful year.
It is kind of horrifying to see that violence and misuse of power are unjustifiably used in some countries, especially those who gloatingly claim democracy. What kind of democracy are they applying? Or shall we say that they have created a new meaning for the term democracy? Because there is no other explanation for what is happening in some countries especially, Iraq and Palestine.
Who said it is OK to kill another soul or invade an independent country, whose people were living an honourable life, at least not under the occupation of a foreigner, whose intentions are nothing but cruel and selfish.
A sense of fear and panic pervades our nation, and fear of the unknown.
However, the Palestinian youth live in a place where food is no longer considered part of the daily routine, and still they struggle to survive and fight for their lives. Waiting for death to arrive any minute, they live by the day, without losing hope they fight and fight. We can not but stop and bow to those warriors. Not only we should salute them but follow their lead. In spite of what is going on, they still have hope, because they have faith.
Amongst all this, we can not but say, arm yourself with patience and hope, maybe this will help us survive another year and turn a new page. We only hope that in 2009 the world will rid itself of its petty differences and learn to live in peace, at least for once.
