Fans say yes to Ouija

Judy Ann Santos and Jolina Magdangal make Ouija a smashing success

Last updated:

The movie that successfully brought together the two brightest young stars of Philippine showbusiness - Judy Ann Santos and Jolina Magdangal - is a smashing success.

Without doubt, Judy and Jolina's combined popularity had as much to do with the film's early success, but what will really drive the box office returns for this movie is word-of-mouth.

Imaginative

Our Manila moles say Ouija was superbly done, thanks to Toppel Lee's masterful direction. The horror sequences are original and imaginative, though influenced by popular classic horror films. Nonetheless, Toppel infused it with his own fertile imagination and created one of the year's best films. The film could be on its way to an international release.

No more worries then for Ouija, despite ABS-CBN's refusal to allow Judy Ann to promote the film produced by rival GMA Films in her home studio. It will be recalled GMA was gracious enough to allow a film by Star Cinema, the film arm of ABS CBN, to be promoted in some Kapuso programmes.

Anyway, with such a strong start, Ouija apparently doesn't need to be promoted elsewhere.
