They say it's not bitchy on tour — pah!
If the latest official WTA and Dubai Duty Free photo shoots are anything to go by then you'd be left wondering how they even make it past breakfast without scratching each other's eyes out.
Luckily, the theme of the shoot and style of the pictures was the brainchild of photographer Russ Kientsch and not a true reflection of life on the WTA tour.
Catfights in the Gold Souk and bitchy looks from afar are hoped to grab readers' attention when the pictures appear in international magazines around the world throughout the year, Kientsch said.
Slovakian Daniela Hantuchová and fellow tour-mate Sorana Cîrstea from Romania got into the spirit of things and even had members of the public asking why they hate each other so much.
Hantuchová, ranked 27, strutted past a slightly uncomfortable-looking Cîrstea, only breaking into fits of giggles momentarily as she lost her balance on her five-inch Nicholas Kirkwood heels.
Cîrstea, crouched against a glass wall at Dubai International Airport's Terminal 3, tried to steady the leggy 1.86m player before losing her own footing and dropping against a nearby railing.
Back in character, a number of catty looks passed among the pair and the flashes and camera snaps captured all the action.
Not used to being dressed in gowns and heels, it was obvious the pair were out of their comfort zones, but both said they enjoyed the shoot.
Hantuchová, who could rival any professional model with her tall, slender figure and striking features, was back in her jogging bottoms just minutes after the last shots had been taken. "I enjoyed the shoot, but I am much happier in my sports clothing," she said.
"I cannot believe my hair," laughed Cîrstea as she fought (quite hard) to remove a large mohican-style bun fashioned on top of her head. "I like it for the shoot, but I don't think I'll head on court looking like this," she laughed.
The girls went off (together, as friends) and headed back to the courts for practice.
