How to make a necklace just as pretty with ribbons and a bit of glue
If you want to make ornaments but don't have beads, don't worry, you could use ribbons instead.
STEP 1
Take ribbons you have lying around the house or buy some from a store. You will need 40cm.
STEP 2
Hold one end and brush the length of the ribbon, except the portion you hold between your fingers, with white glue.
STEP 3
Take a toothpick and roll the ribbon around it. The unglued side must be in contact with the toothpick.
STEP 4
To dry, use styrofoam plates. They come free with packaged meat.
STEP 5
The ribbon beads will be ready when they dry. But till that time, you will need to keep turning the toothpick every hour so that the ribbon binds well. Once dry, varnish the beads.
STEP 6
Get nails with hooks that can be inserted into the ribbons. They are available at jewellery shops. Leave 1cm of the nail and cut the rest off. Bend the ends using pliers.
STEP 7
I used fuchsia-coloured ribbon, mother-of-pearl of the same colour, golden-coloured caps and antique coins.
