Glamorous, sleek and sexy – the only words which could describe Club Blush, Dubai's newest dance venue at Wafi City.
The biggest club launch of 2006, the opening night welcomed dance enthusiasts from across the city, dressed to the nines to soak up the funky, electro- house atmosphere.
The evening was a musical treat with international guest DJ Joey Negro playing alongside Club Blush's resident DJ, Gregory House — better known as Greg the Bongo Player!
So why the success? Well, who better to open a dance venue than a famous DJ himself? Dion Mavath spent the night splitting himself in two in a desperate bid to mingle with the punters and enjoy his number one passion — a spin on the decks!
Another milestone
Mavath has also launched Blush Radio, setting yet another milestone in Dubai's clubbing history. Bringing his popular programming techniques and musical knowledge onto Dubai's airwaves and night scene, Club Blush and Blush Radio have been well-received.
The opening of Blush saw hundreds of partygoers hit the dance floor to enjoy the sounds of UK house pioneer Joey Negro of Milk n'2 Sugars (MN2S) fame.
Following their massive party season at El Divino in Ibiza, where they had the biggest ever opening, and party of the year at Miami Winter Music Conference, MN2S set the stage to repeat their party deliverance.
Within an exclusive luxurious setting, a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, clubbers at Club Blush experienced the party rage.
Prolific creativity
For Dion Mavath, 2006 has proved to be a year mixed with creativity, hard work and plenty of opportunities.
While working on his new CD release, Mavath has completed an extensive international tour as well as other Blush concepts — radio, club and clothing line.
Speaking to Tabloid! he said: “Blush is the most exciting and fulfilling project in my life right now. I've been busy conceptualising and getting the nitty-gritty right.
“Building a brand from scratch is not easy, especially in the entertainment industry in this region. My ambition is to develop Blush as a world class entertainment brand.
“The launch was very exciting for me. The enormity of taking to the stage in my own club is something that hit me only when I was actually up there. I think I had been so busy that I hadn't stopped to realise that this is my dream come true — to own my own club.
“The main aim for me is to give the people of Dubai the best possible value for money.
“At just Dh60 a night I understand we are the second cheapest club venue and that is the way we want it to stay.
“The whole concept has been very exciting and I cannot believe the opening is already over. The anticipation has been building for three months and now I just want to get my teeth stuck into things. I would like to thank all those who attended the opening night and I hope they all had a great night.''
And believe me, as he spun his famed funky-electro house set, Dion Mavath was anything but a blushing DJ!

He was making credible and outstanding British house music when many around him were still busy getting to grips with their decks, and he justifiably continues to be regarded as one of the founding heroes of the international dance music scene.
Almost 20 years on, and UK house pioneer and Z Records head honcho Dave Lee, aka Joey Negro, is still at the forefront of the global scene.
