Singer alleges foul play
A fairly unknown singer named Manar held a press conference to allege that she was kidnapped and photographed in indecent positions. Manar said she was forced to smile at the camera while being held at gunpoint, and those who kidnapped her told her they were sent by Lebanese singer Lady Madonna. It seems the two singers had a dispute during the filming of their new video clip Al Dunia Sayfyeh, because of some statements made by Madonna. Manar has also threatened to take legal action against those who published the pictures. Awful!
It’s just not cricket
Following the skirmishes after the Algeria-Egypt World Cup qualifying football match,
a group of Egyptian and Arab artists who allegedly expressed hostile views towards Algeria have been banned for life; they are no longer welcome to visit or perform in the country. The list covers mostly Egyptian performers, although surprisingly it also includes Lebanese singers Nancy Ajram and Haifa Wehbe, who said they were supporting the Egyptian team before the unfortunate events that followed the match. Haifa, who was infuriated when she heard of the ban, said she couldn’t care less and considers it a medal of honour to be banned from Algeria.
Majida shines in a great performance
Renowned Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi enchanted her fans at two concerts held in Abu Dhabi last week. Majida was accompanied by other musicians combining Western and Eastern music. The singer also announced that she will launch her latest album by the end of the year. The album has been produced by Good News For Music production company and contains a song that was written by famous Syrian lyricist Nizar Qabbani along with other top contributors.
To act or not to act?
Egyptian singer Tamer Hosni has denied that he was going to act in a new drama series to be aired during Ramadan. The singer said he was not even considering this, because he was very busy with his music work and the new film he is shooting right now. However it looks like the singer will be paid 15 million Egyptian Pounds if he acts in the series. We think Tamer should seriously consider this ... no?
