When Hind Al Youha enrolled in the Masters course for project management at the British University in Dubai (BUiD), little did she know that a year later, she would be making history. A private school graduate, Hind started as a trainee in the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation. She quickly worked her way up to Corporate Performance Manager while completing a Bachelors of Business Management degree at the same time.

She decided to further her academic achievement and direct her talent towards project management.

"Dubai is inundated with projects. A masters in project management will not just add to my skills as an individual, but will also help me contribute to my country's economy," said Hind.

For you to realise just how outstanding her achievement is, it must be emphasised that as well as being enrolled in a full time masters course, She was also working full time.

Despite the challenge of this situation, Hind made an achievement by being the first female to graduate with a Masters in Project Management from BUiD.

According to Hind, because she is aware of the UAE's status in the region as having the lowest percentage of nationals working in the private sector, she feels that her completion of a Masters degree in Project Management is her personal contribution to Emiratisation.

What she is doing

Hind is currently working as Corporate Performance Manager for a company she does not wish to disclose. In addition to this, she is also a part-time lecturer in Project Management at the Dubai Women's College.

"Teaching is something I want to keep up as it is my way of giving back to the community."

Hind is also attending conferences in Dubai and abroad to speak about her thesis. Dr Qasim Randeree, Programme Director and lecturer in the Faculty of Business, BUiD, said "Hind's graduation project was of such quality as to set a benchmark for this field."

Future plans

"I want to work for my country. I have worked hard to achieve a status where I can be viewed as an asset to my country. I hope they reciprocate by rewarding me with a position with larger scope and more responsibility, where I will be able to implement my ideas and excel at what I am doing," she said.

Hind also mentioned that she hopes to earn a PhD in the same field soon.

She is proud that she has helped further the name of her country.

"I would like to be a young UAE female leader one day. That is my vision."
