A Time For Charity
I'm sure everyone has noticed the tents that have been erected around town. Most are there to offer iftar buffets or suhoor for those looking for something to do in the emirate.
But these are not the tents that interest me. For me, the more interesting tents are those that are run by charities.
They are dotted around the city and offer one of two services. Either they are large enough to provide food for the poor and needy, or they are smaller tents that allow members of society to donate food, clothes, water or other essentials so that they can be donated to those in need throughout this holy month.
We must not forget that Ramadan is the month of giving, and all Muslims who are able to are expected to help those less fortunate.
I urge you all to do a spot of spring cleaning, I'm sure you have many unwanted items around your house, clothes that are in good condition but are no longer to your liking, or are that bit too big or small for you, presents that you received but have never taken your fancy. Everything is of use, household appliances, or decorative items could make someone's day.
Or maybe just go to the supermarket and buy bags of rice, flour, salt and sugar or bottles of oil and take them down to the charity tents.
I promise you, you will make someone very happy and brighten up their Eid.
