ABU DHABI Cinema buffs in Abu Dhabi can look forward to a whole new experience with the opening of the 20-screen Vox Cinemas at Yas Mall.
Sink into the spacious leather seats with pillows, and get tucked into a blanket at the Vox Gold while a dedicated butler will serve you throughout the movie. Forget popcorn and nachos. You can pre-order from a three-course restaurant style menu that is available at the premium lounge.
Or better if you want to get real – follow every turn and twist of a car chase, get drenched in rain, experience the breeze on your face or feel the heat of an explosion – watch your favourite flick in 4DX. The effects will elevate the movie watching experience by mimicking a range of sensations such as rain, wind, scent, movement and motion all synchronised with the action on-screen. Having debuted in Dubai last year, the 4DX is coming to Abu Dhabi for the first time. Tickets are priced at Dh125.
Wide choice
“We want to change the cinema landscape in the UAE, and make sure movie watching is still the most enjoyable entertainment activity for the whole family,” Cameron Mitchell, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, told the press during an exclusive preview of the cinemas.
“Guests no longer want to experience every movie in the same format, but now have the option to choose between 2D, 3D, 4DX, standard, VOX MAX, VOX Gold and even private cinema concepts on every visit,” added Mitchell.
Vox also brings the single largest screen at 23.5 metres wide to the capital, the first VOX 4DX cinema experience, two enormous VOX MAX screens with Dolby Atmos multi-dimensional sound systems, a VIP VOX Gold cinema plus the country’s first child-friendly party cinema hall.
VOX Cinemas at Yas Mall will show Arabic, Hollywood, Malayalam, Tamil, Tagalog, Turk-ish and Russian films as well as other entertainment including concerts, opera, gaming tournaments and live football matches.
VOX also introduces two cine-mas with Dolby Atmos-enabled screens, which can be enjoyed from large VIP seats with a private table and USB phone charger. This new generation of sound technology creates a multi-dimensional environment, with speakers embedded in the walls and ceiling, provising realistic surround sound.
The child-friendly cinema with 35 brightly coloured seats caters exclusively to the younger audience. The hall can also be used for private viewing for a birthday party, and can also double up as a gaming zone.
