Paul Bradly lists 10 things men are too shy or macho to do
We all have our personal lists - of the zaniest/quirkiest/
funniest/ craziest/smartest ... We devote this page to them.
This week, Paul Bradly lists ...
Downsize This is the simplest, most sensible way to save fuel and money but most men don't want to sell their 4x4s. They wouldn't be caught dead driving a small car unless it's a stylish compact sports car.
Accessorise Limited to a wedding band or cufflinks, we enter jewellery shops with a heavy heart. All that gold and sparkles and nothing for us? Well, there is but dare you ask?
Indulge themselves I don't think 'personal indulgence' is part of a man's vocabulary. Do we know how to enjoy a day at the spa? Maybe we are just too macho to kick back our shoes, put on a fluffy bathrobe and get intoxicated by the heady scents and flickering candle lights.
Learn to dance The very thought turns men into blocks of wood with jelly legs. The communication between brain and feet is lost and the logic of left and right is gone. There is no hope when it comes to dancing; seems it's just not a guy thing.
Wax We have all seen those silky smooth Adonis types who advertise anything from aftershave to deodorants, but can any ordinary bloke ever muster the courage to wax?
Wear heels Want to stand out in a crowd or hit the 6-foot mark? Then heels are for you. Hey, I'm not saying you should wear those red 6-inch stilettos, but a couple of inches would help elevate your ego!
Design their wardrobe So you have your clothes tailor-made. But be honest: didn't you just hand over your favourite shirt and ask for a copy or two 'same, same'? Why don't you try being more creative, or are you too shy to ask?
Bring sunshine into the world Why is your wardrobe monochromatic, with just shades of black and white with a bold-coloured tie or two? Do you have the courage to wear red, pink or yellow? Are you brave enough to wear violet
or crimson?
Take a man day off Could you ever go contrary to the DNA of the caveman hunter-gatherer, take a day off and let someone else worry about where the car is parked? Chill by the pool, read a glossy magazine and have the courage to switch your phone off? Could you?
Support the opposite gender Can you walk the talk by giving support to the women in your life – wife, mother or sister? Let them know that you care and love them. We do; only we are too shy to say so.
