Floral Art, a design studio started by Kavita & Srishti Kapur, has quickly morphed from being passion project to a venture that not only supports them but numerous local artisans and craftsmen today.
Floral Art is known for their meticulous craftsmanship in floral jewellery, an art form that adorns and accentuates beauty with meticulously crafted floral accents. Over their 21+ year journey, their pieces have adorned celebrities and influencers like Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Karishma Tanna, Katrina Kaif, and others, making each piece a star-studded marvel.
Says Srishti: ‘Twenty one years ago, my family was facing financial challenges. Then my mother, Kavita and I, who were both trained in Ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arrangement, decided to turn our hobby into a career by creating small bouquets for intimate gatherings. Fast forward two decades, and today Floral Art has transformed itself into a studio specialising in all things floral, from gift items and design to decor.’
Major trends in floral jewellery
Floral capes and floral kaleeras have taken on a new role as emblems of grace and allure. Then there floral haathphools, or hand harnesses adorned with blooming blossoms; floral sheeshpattis, or forehead ornaments; and Sahara strings, delicately linked to the earrings that serve as an alluring and graceful accessory.
Advice to brides-to-be
1. Start early: Begin planning your wedding at least six months in advance. This allows ample time to make decisions, book vendors, and ensure everything runs smoothly.
2. Shortlist and mood board: With the influence of social media, brides often have numerous ideas in mind. It’s crucial to create a shortlist of designs and create a mood board to help visualise your dream wedding. This will serve as a reference point when making choices.
3. Inspiration vs. personal style: While it’s great to draw inspiration from celebrity weddings and trends, always prioritise your comfort and personal style. Your wedding should reflect your unique personality and preferences.
