Ramadan Nights by Dish is a pop-up restaurant in Al Quoz’s Warehouse Four. The catering and events brand are showcasing a new menu every day during the month of Ramadan featuring dishes inspired by flavours of the Middle East.

Once you step inside, you will feel like you’ve been transported to a modern Moroccan lounge with both table seating and low Moroccan camel poofs. We chose the normal seating. The chairs were made with wicker material, like the ones you might lounge on if you were sitting outdoors in a cafe in Marrakesh. The overall ambience of the iftar has been further enhanced with the addition of decor elements such as candlelight and hanging fairy lights from the ceiling.

As we sit down, we are given a three-course sharing menu with several options per course. We started our meal with a lentil and saffron soup, topped with toasted almonds. The soup was then followed by a unique roasted garlic hummus topped with fresh olive oil, accompanied with a basket of thick bread and toasted Arabic flatbread. We scooped up every bit of hummus on the plate.

The next course included a grilled flat bread with burnt eggplant and spiced carrot and cured sea bass served with a freekeh tabbouleh.

Standout signature main courses included the slow braised lamb shoulder in Middle Eastern spices, corn-fed chicken koftas. The side dishes included roast pumpkin, coriander labneh and mixed greens with a mustard and coriander seed dressing. There was also a vegetarian menu that featured dishes such as Zucchini blossom with saffron and preserved lemon risotto, grilled broccolini with toasted almonds and charred eggplant with tahini yoghurt, pomegranate and mint.

In keeping with local tradition, the sweet ending to the meal was a shared ‘sundae’ of pistachio sponge, raspberry sorbet, mascarpone, fresh berries, rose, logaymat and pistachio praline.
