The act of giving is highly treasured in the UAE and Ramadan enhances the giving spirit. Keeping the same spirit in my mind, Danube Group the UAE's largest diversified conglomerate is offering 100,000 free iftar meals during Ramadan from last 13 years to the underprivileged labourers as part of its humanitarian initiative. Dubai: More than 100,000 free iftar meals are being offered during Ramadan by the Dubai-based Danube Group to workers as part of its humanitarian initiative.

The yearly initiative has been a huge success among the blue-collar workers, whose hard work often goes unnoticed, despite their diligent performance of duties while adhering to religious obligations.

Additionally, to fulfil one of the five pillars of Islam, the group offers an all-expense-paid trip to a few lucky workers selected via a lucky draw to perform Haj and Umrah every year.

Rizwan Sajan, founder and chairman of Danube Group, said: “This is one of many steps we take to recognise the unstinted services of the underprivileged workers. We at Danube make sure food reaches in safe and hygienic condition to all who are coming for the iftars at different locations across GCC.”

Also, he added that their teams keep a track on the change of the menu on a regular basis to cater to the taste buds of various nationalities.

“We have been doing this every Ramadan for the last 13 years. The number of people coming is only increasing year by year. This initiative is in keeping with the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan,” he added.

In November 2012, the group started the Danube Welfare Centre, a non-profit social organisation licensed by the UAE’s Community Development Authority, offering a plethora of free training courses to help unskilled workers improve their language skills and further develop their careers. There are many such initiatives taken by the group across various platforms to create a happier, healthier UAE.
