Dubai: Sanjeev has been beaming his recipes into the homes of food fans in Abu Dhabi for years; now, he’s going to be cooking there for real: The Indian celebrity masterchef has announced he’ll be opening the second branch of his Signature restaurant in the UAE capital early next year.

The chef made the announcement during a visit to Abu Dhabi for the Grand Prix this weekend, visiting the Nations Tower on the Corniche where the restaurant will be located.

“This will be the only Indian restaurant in this particular area of Nations Tower and I hope to have it open in time for the Gourmet Abu Dhabi festival in February,” said Kapoor. star of the Khana Khazana food programme, in a statement on Sunday.

He already operates Signature at the Melia Hotel in Bur Dubai, in addition to Khana Kazana at Al Nasr Leisureland and Options at Dubai World Trade Centre.

“The restaurant will serve the authentic Indian and signature dishes now associated with Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor and we expect it to attract both tourists and residents,” said he added. “We have seen growing numbers of Abu Dhabi residents travelling to Dubai to dine at our restaurant there, so we decided the market in the UAE capital was promising. This trend, complemented by the vibrant Abu Dhabi dining scene and the increasing number of Indians now visiting the city prompted the decision to open here.”

Kapoor is also in talks to take part in next year’s Gourmet Abu Dhabi festival, running February 4-19.
