Economic benefits Dubai could reap from hosting event would be shared across the seven emirates
Khaled S. A. Salmeen, CEO & Managing Director of Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), told Gulf News it was clear that the seven emirates would enrich the content of the event.
Salmeen, heading one of the country’s biggest industrial sites, said there were tremendous benefits for the UAE in Dubai hosting the event “whether it is the airports, duty free, food and beverage, or tourism and hospitality.”
But for him and the industrial and transportation sector, he can see a boost in trade that would put the UAE “on the map.”
“I can even link it to things like Abu Dhabi Terminals in a sense that we would get a boost in business due to materials and other products shipped in for Expo,” he said.
Salmeen is not cautious of the international exposure and increase in visitor numbers the event would bring to the UAE with a predicted 24 million tourists, if the Expo 2020 is hosted in Dubai.
“We as a country have shown time and time again that when we say we can do something, we do it at a world class level,” he said.
