Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, appointed Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimi, Minister of State, as the Managing Director of the Higher Committee for Dubai World Expo 2020, and ordered setting up a World Expo 2020 officer in which Reem will serve as Director General.

Shaikh Mohammad issued the order as he chaired the meeting of the Higher National Committee for Dubai World Expo 2020 held at the Dubai Investments headquarters in Dubai International Financial Centre.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Chairman of the committee, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group and Chairman of the committee, were present.

During the meeting Reem gave a presentation on preparations undertaken for building the World Expo 2020 headquarters in Jebel Ali. The headquarters’ design will reflect the UAE’s historical and sustainable heritage.

Also addressing the committee on the responsibilities and duties of governmental bodies in the project were Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority, Hussain Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality and Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, General Commander of Dubai Police.
