Al Huwaidi, said, “Since receiving the official invitation to participate at Expo 2020 Dubai, work has diligently commenced on all fronts and at all levels, to effectively harness the potentials and to ensure a substantive and high-quality participation that we hope visitors will find fascinating.

“Our choice of ‘sustainability’ as a concept for participation, under the title ‘New Kuwait, New Opportunities for Sustainability’, stems from the vision of His Highness the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabar Al Sabah, to rely in renewable energies, in line with ‘New Kuwait Vision 2035’ and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.”

She attributed the keenness of Kuwait to participate in this event to its support and brotherly ties to the UAE.

Although Kuwait has participated in five Expo events in the past, their participations has never been of this magnitude, she added.

“The Kuwait Pavilion will be situated at a three-way junction, close to the ‘Dome Al-Wasl Square’, the most prominent landmark at Expo 2020 Dubai, taking up an area of 4,546 square metres,” said Al Huwaidi. The exterior is inspired by sand dunes and the iconic water towers in Kuwait City that mimic the theme of natural environments and sustainability.

“The external area of the pavilion will encompass nine exhibition booths intended to provide an opportunity for talented and innovative Kuwaitis, to showcase their inventions and creative works,” said Al Huwaidi. The pavilion will also take into consideration the different ages of the visitors as well as the needs of the people of determination. Areas of the pavilion are designed to be informative for school children with many interactive technologies included to provide visitors an informative and enjoyable experience.

Kuwait’s Consul General to Dubai, Theyab Farhan Al Rashidi, said, “The pavilion will showcase Kuwait’s heritage and vision with a focus on the country’s humanitarian projects.”

He also expressed the close ties between Kuwait and the UAE.

“The UAE’s success at hosting Expo 2020 is a joy shared by all GCC countries. It is our chance to represent our region, culture and heritage to the world.”
