Win to show Dubai strives constantly to be one of the best cities in the world
Suhail Mohammad Al Mazroui, Minister of Energy, is acutely aware of the responsibilities that his department needs to show to the world in order for the UAE and Dubai to live up to their commitments in their Expo 2020 bid, namely sustainability, mobility and opportunity.
Sustainability, in the areas of water and energy, has made rapid strides thanks to advancement in the areas of production, delivery and consumption, he said. This leads to improving access to natural resources through the tenets of responsible conservation and active supervision.
“We are working on the three Expo themes rather than just talking about it,” Al Mazroui endorsed. “We have projects in sustainability in energy which is my field of expertise. We have a sustainable energy policy put in place and this includes renewable, nuclear and natural gas.
“On the sustainability of the economy also, we (Dubai and the UAE) have demonstrated that when it comes to economic challenges that the world is currently going through we have demonstrated a delivery mechanism that lives up to our commitments and we wish to share this experience with others as well.”
Commenting on the UAE and Dubai’s tactical strategy right down to the final leg of the bidding process for Expo 2020, Al Mazroui stated, “Each one of the four cities have worked hard and this is competition after all. We hope, however, that an Expo 2020 victory will come close to our National Day celebrations. We want to double our joy.
“It won’t just be a win for Dubai,” he added “But a triumph for the region as well. It will serve to show that Dubai is offering hope to the others and strives constantly to be one of the best cities in the world. If Dubai wins, then there will be hope for other cities in the future.”
