People dress up to celebrate UAE’s great triumph of getting to host Expo 2020 in Dubai
“Mabrouk Dubai. Mabrouk UAE,” shouted Tommy Weir, the Managing Director of Emerging Markets Leadership Centre, who was celebrating his 46 birthday amid a huge crowds of businessmen at the Capital Club in Dubai watching the Expo 2020 vote.
Mabrouk means “congratulations” in Arabic.
“Today I want to share my birthday celebration with every one in the UAE who is celebrating this great triumph of getting to host Expo 2020 in Dubai.”
Weir, said he has been in the UAE 13 years and has no intention to live else where.
He called upon Dubai saying: “Don’t get lost in success and continue to built the same quality we are use to.”
Carrie Mazwell, from Ireland, had well dressed up for celebrating the night with her husband. “We had confidence that Dubai will win, and thank God, we won.”
She has chosen a fuchsia dress with shining Jimmy Choo shoes for such a colourful night which market the hosting of Expo 2020 in Dubai.
“If I will be meeting Shaikh Mohammad [Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai] one day I will thank him for the best place he made to live in.”
While Louise Kazi, 27, Tanzanian, said that she intend to wear a blue dress to match colour the Expo logo.
“I went to the office from the morning with this dress just to be ready for the result of voting for Expo because I knew that Dubai would win the bid.”
