Positive vibe
Willie Revillame is back on the noontime slot, where his show, Wowowillie, will be competing directly with long-time frontrunner Eat Bulaga and the constantly improving It’s Showtime. Unlike before when Revillame had a bitter rivalry with Joey de Leon, one of the main hosts of Eat Bulaga, the popular host is positive about his new show and is on good terms with his competitors. Producers spent nearly 100 million pesos (Dh10 million) on the show, with the pilot episode featuring a galaxy of stars from TV5. But the real surprise was Revillame’s son, Juamee, who wowed the audience with his impressive drumming skills.
Secret rivalry
Angelica Panganiban gave a hint at what seems to be a brewing rivalry between her and Angel Locsin. The two co-starred with Dingdong Dantes in the movie One More Try, which was a commercial and critical success at the last Metro Manila Film Festival. In a recent interview, Panganiban said she is neither friends nor enemies with Locsin. According to our sources from the producer’s office, Panganiban was on the edge at the victory party of the movie because everyone was all praises for Locsin, who really showed she is getting better with every film.
End of the road?
Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has admitted in an interview that the end of road is near for his career. But he is still determined to fight two to three more times before finally retiring. In the meantime, he is busy preparing a new public service programme on TV replacing his game show which was axed recently. Pacquiao says he will not concentrate on his career as a public servant and lawmaker, and do TV shows or movies.
Actor favoured
It looks like ABS CBN has decided in favour of Gerald Anderson. The network removed veteran and award-winning actress Maricel Soriano from the soap in which the two celebrities were supposed to star. However, on the first shoot of the series, Soriano uncharacteristically and surprisingly yelled at Anderson in one of the scenes. She was upset as the actor could not get the right emotions and was becoming a cause of delay. Many thought the “feud” will be settled amicably, but apparently Anderson did not want to work with Soriano anymore. So network producers had no choice but to let the better, but less popular star go.
