Teen actor talks to tabloid! about getting noticed and the actors he looks up to
Teen actor Kristoffer Martin has patiently waited for this moment – when his star is finally shining and he is getting the attention he rightfully deserves.
Q: Of all the male cast of Tween Hearts, you were probably the one who bloomed late or was given a break much later than the others. How do you feel about that?
A: It’s all perfect timing. Maybe, it wasn’t my time before, but in my heart I knew my time would come.
Q: What did you do to get noticed?
A: I’ve always given my best in everything that I did. Finally some people took notice. I won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Golden Screen Awards early this year for my performance in Oros. Then, I was just told I was recently awarded Honourable Mention for Best Supporting Actor at the 16th Long Island International Film Expo in New York for the same film.
I try to keep my focus, and I learn from other actors I admire. My hardwork is finally paying off.
Q: Are you now expecting bigger roles or projects?
A: Not really expecting. I trust that my handlers know what is best for my career. More of hoping that I will finally be given the chance to prove I can do it; I can take on bigger roles and challenges.
Q: Will you be more selective with the roles that you accept?
A: I don’t want to be choosy and end up with nothing. I would rather be working that waiting for the next ideal role to come.
Q: What is your ideal role?
A: I don’t have any specific ideal role, but anything that’s out of the ordinary would be challenging. I’d like to explore my range and how far I can go. I would like to be versatile as an actor.
Q: Will that include accepting daring roles?
A: I did something like that already, but it was a quick scene. Maybe in the future I can accept really daring roles. I just feel I am still uncomfortable at this point. I’m still very young. Give me a few years.
Q: Who among our actors do you look up to?
A: Dingdong Dantes and Dennis Trillo — they are some of the best and I would like to achieve even half of what they have done. They are not just excellent actors, but also good role models. And it will be a dream come true if I am given a chance to work alongside with them in the future.
