Sharjah Art Foundation has renewed its commitment to filmmaking with a new initiative titled Sharjah Film Platform (SFP).
The annual programme will offer production grants, workshops, discussions, film screenings and filmmaking awards.
The SFP has also launched an open call for their first annual Short Film Production Grant. Applications will be accepted until February 28. Up to three winners will receive a total of $30,000 (Dh110,174), and their films will be screened in January 2019.
Winners will be chosen on the basis of creativity and technical skill. They will be announced next month.
All of SFP’s upcoming programming will be free and open to the public. This includes screenings of documentaries, experimental films and animated productions at Mirage City Cinemas and other venues in Sharjah, as well as talks about screenwriting, cinematography, editing, film theory and film criticism.
