A quick scroll through C-Drama Twitter reveals First Frost is still on everyone’s minds. Whether it's been six months or six years, there’s something enduring, almost immortal, about this show in the public imagination. Perhaps it’s how it redefines the male lead’s yearning: tender, sincere, and refreshingly free of the bitterness and toxicity that often plague similar roles.

Even now, months after its release, First Frost, set in the Hidden Love universe but featuring an entirely new cast, continues to fuel active Reddit discussions. Hidden Love, focuses on Sang Zhi, while The First Frost, focuses on her elder brother Sang Yan.

Fans are still looking for Easter eggs nevertheless, in both the shows (TikTok has an entire page dedicated to it), and one Easter Egg seen in Hidden Love, is Sang Yan (played originally by Victor Ma) and his hatred for the university of Yihe, which we learn later in The First Frost, is because Yifan chose the college over going to Nanwu with him.

So, which scenes really made the First Frost  so memorable? Here’s our list.

The final scene

This was almost cinematic. From Bai Jingting trembling as the overwhelmed and nervous San Yan proposing to Yifan, and the friends tearing up in the background, this was truly one of the most emotional, and yet somehow realistic proposals, outshining other dramas in the same genre. You see the relief, and the joy, as he hands the ring box, which has a dancing girl doll---symbolic of Yifan’s love for dance.

The reunion after six months

Worried that her past tormentor will ruin San Yan’s life, Yifan leaves the city for Hong Kong, without saying goodbye to San Yan. A broken San Yan spends several months trying to get in touch with her, but no avail. Finally, Yifan overcomes her fear and gives him a call. He takes the flight to see her, and confesses his love to her again. “My world was destroyed, when you left,” he says.

Following this, the two share an intense conversation on the balcony, and promise, that from now onwards, there will be no more apologies from now.

When Yifan sleepwalks and hugs ‘the sun’

One of the most painful consequences of her traumatic life, comes in the form of her sleepwalking. Yifan starts sleepwalking again, and she walks right into a perplexed Sang Yan. And yet, the bittersweetness of it all: As she recalls to her friend later, she felt a warm light, just like the sun. And so she hugs it. The acting, music, and the imagery of the scene deserve all the accolades.

When Sang Yan shows up in Beiyu

After earnestly counting down for Sang Yan’s birthday, Yifan is pulled away for work, due to a landslide in Beiyu, her hometown, where she met Sang Yan. She walks through the city, remembering their teenage years together, and gets a hot bowl of their favourite soup. And…Sang Yan shows

up, as a surprise. He didn’t want to spend his birthday without her. The two share a sweet confession, where they finally admit their feelings for each other. Took 18 episodes, but we got there.

When Sang Yan looks for Yifan’s messages after his house burns down

Our lead never stopped loving Yifan, though he tried his best to convince us that he didn’t. Yet, in one of the earlier episodes right before they become roommates, Sang Yan is seen rushing to his old apartment that had burnt down and look for the phone that had Yifan’s old messages.
