Look! The wild Aston Martin Valkyrie being tested on public roads

The hypercar will be tested extensively on highways before deliveries start in H2 2020

As extreme and outlandish as the Aston Martin Valkyrie may look like, the fact is it is a road car. So, following its testing on a range of test circuits, the Gaydon carmaker’s hypercar is now being tested on the public roads for the first time.

Aston Martin has shared with us a set of images of the Valkyrie navigating the roads nearby Silverstone in Northamptonshire, UK, with Chris Goodwin – the brand’s High Performance Test Driver - at the wheel.

This road test is the first of a series of real world tests that the team of engineers from Aston Martin and Red Bull Advanced Technologies will undertake before first customer deliveries start in the second half of this year.

As you can see, the Valkyrie looks out of this world on the dull public roads. With its unusual design and the extreme road-hugging stance, it is sure to turn heads everywhere once it hits the road.

Powered by a Cosworth-built, 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12, which is good for 1000bhp at 10,500rpm, the Valkyrie is expected to benefit from even more power thanks to its hybrid setup.

Aston Martin is partnered by Red Bull Advanced Technologies in the development and testing of the Valkyrie. This association is expected to continue despite the deal between Aston Martin and Red Bull racing coming to an end in Formula 1.
