Behold! This is the all-new 2022 Range Rover SUV

The fifth-generation version of Land Rover’s flagship SUV, the Range Rover, has been officially revealed. Considered the world’s original luxury SUV, the Range Rover has for over five decades remained the benchmark in the category that other brands have strived to emulate with their SUVs. The British marque says the latest iteration of the quintessential SUV blends modernity and aesthetic grace with technological sophistication and seamless connectivity.

The familiar, iconic two-box profile is carried over, with the falling roofline, strong waistline and rising sill line retained. The vertical detailing on the front door has been reinterpreted to be in line with the overall sleeker design. The unbroken waistline and the rounded edge of the door that meets the glass thanks to a hidden waist finisher add to the restrained elegance of the new Range Rover’s silhouette.

The rear end of the Range Rover gets the most drastic design updates, with vertical taillights integrated into the tailgate.

Crafted using flush glazing technology, the taillights of the new Range Rover are hidden until lit.

A Battery-electric Range Rover is set to premiere in 2024 as part of Land Rover’s new Reimagine strategy with an all-electric powertrain for its flagship SUV. Until then, the new Range Rover will get an extended range PHEV powertrains with 510 horsepower and 440 horsepower, boasting electric only range of up to 100km.

Meanwhile, the new 530 horsepower twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with Dynamic Launch promises a0-100kph dash in 4.6 seconds.

The new Range Rover’s Pivi Pro infotainment system comes with the largest ever touchscreen in a Land Rover vehicle. The 13.1-inch curved, floating screen is said to provide intuitive control of all the major vehicle functions, using the latest consumer technology to deliver a smartphone-inspired interface.

The All-Wheel Drive transmission is controlled by Land Rover’s Intelligent Driveline Dynamics system, which monitors grip levels and driver inputs 100 times a second to predictively distribute torque between the front and rear axles, and across the rear axle, for optimum traction on and off-road. Every Range Rover also features an Active Locking Rear Differential. This optimises traction from the rear axle during high-speed cornering, on slippery surfaces and during off-road wheel articulation.

The new luxury SUV is available in SE, HSE and Autobiography models. A First Edition will be available throughout the first year of production, based on the Autobiography and featuring a unique specification. Both Standard and Long Wheelbase body designs are available with five seats, while the New Range Rover LWB model is available with a third row to seat up to seven adults.
