Candy was the order of the day when pop diva Christina Aguilera came to town.

"It was all I could think about when I was pregnant. I wanted sugar and all things sweet and didn't know when to stop," she said as she rolled her eyes in a self-disapproving manner.

Echoing the title of one of her biggest hits – Candyman – her press conference was like a scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with giant jars of chocolates, jelly beans, licorice and other sugary treats as far as the eye could see
But she reserves her saccharine language for just one person in her life: her son Max.

"My son is by far my greatest achievement so far and I am so blessed to have him. As a woman I believe it is so important to maintain who I am and where I've come from. I want to share all my life experiences with him so he can find out what is important to him. As a mother and singer balance is the key word."

The Grammy Award-winning songstress put motherhood to one side as she wowed a 15,000-strong crowd at Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace Hotel with numbers including Beautiful, Come on Over, Genie in a Bottle, Hurt and of course, Candyman.

Interaction with crowd not too high on the agenda, Aguilera chatted casually as she made her way through an energetic 60-minute set which was impressive from start to finish.
