The effort of Dubai’s authorities and municipality towards charity are immense and quite commendable. But, it is sad to notice that residents aren’t quite keen in making use of those.
The authorities of Dubai have set up numerous charitable organisations at various locations across the city. The donations that can be made vary from old books to clothes, bedsheets and other used items of daily use. These items are then collected and dispatched to various organisations working for the upliftment of the needy and the underpriveleged.

Dubai’s residents are known to be quite sensitive towards charity issues and are generous donators towards the cause. But lately, I was shocked to see piles of old clothes and books in good condition being loaded into the garbage trucks. These are materials that were disposed off in the garbage chutes of residential buildings.
The irony lies in the fact that these residents were quite lazy to come and put in these items in the charity donation box placed just below their building (as shown in the photograph). It is appalling to see that items that could have brought a smile across the faces of the needy are now going to the garbage bins.
Residents need to pay more attention towards this cause. They should put in a little bit of effort and try their best to donate old clothes, books, pillowcases, bedsheets and other daily items in good condition in these boxes placed across the city. Such an act of generosity would bring happiness and joy across the faces of many needy and a pleasant feeling in one’s heart. I have donated — when will you?
