Dubai

I have come across a poor sight when using buses operated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai. I have seen people resting their feet on the seats that are clearly meant for sitting.

I really wish people would show some courtesy and refrain from such behaviour. The authorities have initiated these services and are constantly making an effort to give us a comfortable form of transport. It is, thus, the responsibility of the public to ensure that we use the facilities in the right manner.

So many times, one comes across people behaving badly, by either putting their feet up or littering in the buses. It doesn’t look particularly nice and is a sign of bad etiquette. If nothing else, people should show some courtesy towards their fellow passengers. Just think of a scenario wherein a tired passenger boards a bus and looks for a place to sit, then sees a person with their feet on the seat that they wanted to use. What would he or she think?

The authorities need to look into this issue and come up with a fine or another form of solution so the habit stops here.
