I would like to bring to the attention of the concerned authorities the dangers that I have faced on a few occasions while driving through the service lane located on Al Khaleej Road in Dubai’s Deira area. I request the Roads and Transport Authority to provide a speed bump on this stretch of road in order to protect the lives of the motorists and pedestrians in the area.

Many drivers use this road on a daily basis and seem to ignore the ‘stop’ sign that has been placed at the end of the service lane. This ignorance can lead to a major accident, which could cause injury or even death.

Why I am so concerned about this is because I have personally faced situations at least thrice wherein I narrowly escaped from an accident, otherwise it would have been a bad situation due to the other motorist’s ignorance and mistakes. I try to be extra cautious and alert, especially when driving on this lane, and this is why I could protect myself and avoid an accident. But, this might not be the case for other drivers.

At this location, not just speed bumps are required, but I also request the RTA and the road and transport authorities in all other emirates to note and rectify all the hazards on the roads, in order to avoid accidents and have safer roads in the UAE.

In the past, I had raised a similar issue regarding the closure of a U-turn in Sharjah, wherein the Sharjah authorities took quick action after investigating the area. They must have discovered that it was a hazard and was causing many accidents. Since then, the roads are much safer for all the motorists. I hope the RTA will also take quick action to rectify this issue.
