Dubai: Despite there being several warnings and fines against the use of mobile phones while driving, motorists continue to place themselves and others in harm’s way. A few days ago, I came across a motorist on Al Ittihad Road in Dubai who was extremely distracted because he was using two phones and smoking at the same time while he drove on this busy highway.
The issue is clear - negligence of such drivers who are not bothered about anything or anyone. Granted that there was a lot of traffic when I came across this sight, it was surprising nevertheless. This man was barely focused on the road and was concentrating on both his phones. How can one be so careless?
I hope the concerned authorities identify such cases and take prompt action against them. Fines don’t seem to be enough anymore.
