At the traffic signal on King Faisal Road in Sharjah, immediately after Abu Shagara, motorists wait patiently to make a U-turn, on the side coming from Dubai.

They invariably form a long queue of cars, while those going straight continue down the road as the way is clear.

Unfortunately, the green light for those going straight through is longer than for those making a U-turn.

Because of this, every day I see inconsiderate, impatient and impolite motorists jumping the queue so they can be first in line.

They not only disturb U-turn seekers, and make the person at the end of the queue feel cheated, but they also block the lanes for those going straight through.

I earnestly appeal to the authorities to take necessary action to control this menace.

This junction urgently needs traffic radar or a police officer to monitor the lane changing situation.

This would deter law-breakers and ensure violators are punished and that those waiting in the queue get the right of way.
