The book, ‘The Bourne Identity’ by Robert Ludlum, is based on the psychological state of a person who is going through various turmoils in his present life, which is unknown to him. This book is a thriller wherein the main character identifies himself as Mr Jason Bourne. In the first half of the book, I actually started to believe through the incidents that were occurring that he is the real Bourne.

The entry of Marie is very dramatic, she’s taken hostage by Bourne, and in return does not trust him first. But, later when he saves her from unexpected attacks, she finally falls in love with him.

The villian is portrayed as fearless and smart, building tension in the minds of the readers. Carlos, the name itself leaves a strong impact on me. I was highly impressed by the negative role Mr Ludlum gave him.

Later through many flashbacks and by meeting many more characters as the story proceeds, Bourne becomes Caine. This is where the story stunned me, as the main hero settles in and as the assassin. Then it is revealed that he was a government agent and during a mission his family was killed. He is shocked, loses his memory and lands into an unknown world where he becomes the target.

Little by little his identity becomes clearer. It’s indeed interesting to find one character having different personalities. The aura created by Ludlum actually makes you feel part of the book, as when the character runs, you tend to run with him. Every action is captured and cherished by me, I loved the book.
